DNS Changer Warning

Detour

On July 9th, 2012 Internet and Computer support technician will be receiving many calls from customers that will not be able to get on the Internet. This may be due to the fact that they are infected with the DNS Changer Malware.

On November 11th, 2011 the FBI raided and arrested the people responsible for creating the DNS Changer malware and ceased the equipment, but because many people were infected they got a court order for the  Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) to keep clean servers running. This process is expensive so they are only able to keep this going until July 9th, 2012.

Hak5 and HakTip Podcast

Hak5Hak5 is a video podcast on the Revision3 network. Hak5 is a show about computer and network security, Do-It-Yourself, home-brew, open source, and generally just wanting to know how and why things work. They speed a lot of time explaining how easy it is to hack into a network (lately mostly wireless network) to show how easy it is unless you take the necessary steps to be secure.
Hak5 is a weekly show hosted by Darren Kitchen, co-hostess is Shannon Morse, and the occasional guest. The same people bring up HakTip a bi-weekly show that is a shortened version of Hak5.

Phishing Scam Email

Phishing scam emails are getting more and more advanced all the time. While there are still scam emails that claim to be from banks or from PayPal. They will ask for your account name and your password. Never give out this information. They will even use graphics from your banks website to make the email and their website look real.
