Google Plus LogoThe Google+ team has now brought to us multiple admin management to Google+ Pages. This allows for those that created that Google+ page for their business or organization to now be able to share responsibility for upkeep of the Google+ page or to hand off the management of the page to someone else. The Social Media Take Over

Social Media ExplainedSocial Media has taken over the Internet. Many people have Facebook set as their homepage and it is their entry point to the Internet. As a support technician for and ISP we have received calls from customers claiming that their Internet services is ‘down’ or not working if the Facebook page will not load or if they can’t get logged into Facebook. They just don’t know of any other way on the Internet. They don’t use traditional email or chat programs, they instead use the Facebook chat or private messages. They don’t have a personal webpage or blog, they post to the Wall on Facebook. This becomes a problem for the support technician in all areas as we need to be aware when Facebook is ‘down’ and when changes are made to the service. As other social media services like Google+ grow in popularity we will need to be aware of that service too.

Facebook

FacebookFacebook has taken over the Internet in a big way. In a short period of time it has grown to over 800 million active users. There are over 2 billion post a day. People access their Facebook account on their computer at home and at work. They access it on their cell phones, on tablet computers. We keep finding new devices that get Internet access, and as soon as they get Internet access they get Facebook access.

How people use the Internet

This Internet has evolved with time and has changed how people use computers and Internet enabled devices, like cellphone and tablets. This also has changed what people call technical support for.  People get real upset when they can’t get on Facebook, have problem accessing their Bank online, or pay their bills online. They call about not getting their flight reservations emails, or if they are interrupted making an online purchase.
