WikiHow is on collaborative online how-to guide. This is a useful site that you can use to send customers to in helping them with DIY resolutions. They often have step-by-step directions, and sometime videos on how to do something. While the website covers many different categories they have an extensive section on Computers and Electronics. For those of us in the Computer and Electronics support fields it might help us to look through this area.

Who is using Geo-location apps

Many of the applications on your smartphone and tablets are using geo-location. By knowing where you are located at they can tell you what the weather, where to find the closest restaurant, location on a map, or showing your friend where you are and you where they are.

While many men are not afraid to let people know where they are, many women are worried about stalkers and other bad people using these services to track them.

A simple precaution is to only check in when you are leaving a location and to not use it at every location you go to, but only for special events.

Software Testing

Before you ever get access a new software program or application, most developers, will test their software using alpha testing and beta testing groups. They will try to identify bugs and fix the problems before they release their product to the general public.

But you ask why are there still so many bugs with these new software program when the general public get them? Why do they crash and have to get constant updates?

Remote Tech Support with Log Me In

Log Me In is a great tech support tool that I have been using for years. While you might be able to talk someone through downloading and installing the client program, but it better to plan ahead and install and setup this program yourself. There are paid versions of this program, but unless you have a lot of computer you need to support the free version is good more most people.

The first thing you will want to do is create an account on the LogMeIn website. Once that is ready then you will want to download the client program on the computers you will want to remotely access. Then log into your account and you will see the computers you setup listed. If they have an Internet connection and are turned on (and logged in) then you will be able to take remote control of the computer.
